LUNENBURG — The Lunenburg ROAR (Resources for Opioid Awareness and Recovery) Task Force will host a panel to discuss “Athletic Injuries and Pain Management: What Parents Should Know.”

The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Lunenburg Middle/High School, 1079 Massachusetts Ave. (Route 2A), Lunenburg. Resource tables and light refreshments will be available at 6 p.m.

The panel will include Dr. Paul Harasimowicz III, orthopedic surgeon; Dr. Michael Cronin, DMD; Mary Chapman, a mother of a son in long-term recovery, and Jack Kelly, a young man with a poignant story to tell.

Tara Rivera, treatment advocate from Recovery Centers of America and a person in long-term recovery, will be leading the forum and acting as our moderator. She will also do a very quick review of The Physiology of Addiction and the Effects of Opioids on the Developing Brain.

Little was known, as it is today, of the extremely addictive component that these drugs had.
