A new powerful tool to send push notifications and preview your app projects from your Android and iOS devices is now live!
Disclose app allows you to easily manage your push notifications, preview your app projects to test the added features and take app screenshots for the stores. It is an easy-to-use tool available on both the App Store and Google Play Store for the users of the Shoutem builder platform who are in the process of creating their apps or who have already published their apps.e
In this article, we will explain how to use Disclose for the purposes listed above.
Sign in to Disclose
Before you can load your projects, Disclose will ask you to sign in with your Shoutem account. If you already don’t have an account, please proceed to our registration page and complete the steps to create an account.
You can sign in with your email and password, your Facebook account, or your Apple ID.
Gmail login coming soon!
Find your projects
When you sign into the app, you will see a list of your published apps as well as drafts.
Apps that are published will be labelled LIVE. If your app is currently awaiting resubmission, your app project will temporarily lose the LIVE label until it is updated with the new version in the stores.
Send push notifications
By clicking on your live projects you’ll open a menu from where you’ll be able to send push notifications to your app users. You can choose to send push notifications right away or schedule them for later.
To send a push notification right away, click on the Create new push notification button → choose Send now → choose an audience (all users or a specific group) → choose what to open (a specific screen or an URL) → enter URL or choose a screen to open → enter the title and a message → click Create new push notification button to send the notification.
To send a scheduled notification, click on the Create new push notification button → choose Scheduled → choose an audience (all users or a specific group) → choose what to open (a specific screen or an URL) → enter URL or choose a screen to open → choose a delivery date and time → enter the title and a message → click Create new push notification button to schedule the notification. If you’d like to edit this notification, click on it → make changes → click Save changes.
If a notification is created (and scheduled) successfully, you’ll receive a green pop-up confirming that! Notifications cannot be deleted from Disclose – if you’d like to do so, you’ll have to log into the builder and delete it in the Push section.
To go back to the main menu or find your other apps, click on the four squares in the upper right corner of the app or simply navigate back (possible on Androids).
Preview your app projects
A preview of your apps created on our platform will help you visualize how these will look on the installed device. To launch the preview, open your project and click on the Live Preview button in the upper right corner or scan the QR code of your app from the builder.
When your preview launches, you will notice a dialogue which will instruct you to shake your device to show or hide the menu from where you’ll be able to navigate back to your projects. You’ll be able to use the preview to create app screenshots as well without the overlay that you’ll see on your iOS app.
If you are editing your app and previewing it at the same time, to load the changes you have made in the meantime, navigate back to the push notifications section of your project and restart the preview. You can also simply rescan the QR code to update the app and see the latest changes.
Create app screenshots
As you will be using this preview to create app screenshots as well, we have prepared a button that will allow you to do so without an overlay (visible on the iOS version of Disclose due to Apple’s guidelines).
To grab screenshots from the preview shake your device and click on Screenshot the preview button – the overlay will then be removed. These steps don’t have to be taken for Android devices where you can create screenshots right away.
That’s it! Reach out to us and let us know what you think of Disclose. More features and improvements coming soon!
